Trim Levels for the 2022 Honda Civic
Between its sedan and hatchback models, the 2022 Honda Civic is available in 10 trim levels. For the sedans, you have the LX, Sport, EX, Touring, Si, and Si HPT. For the hatchbacks, there are the LX, Sport, EX-L, and Sport Touring.
Whether you go with the sedan or the hatchback, you'll see an increase in the quantity and quality of the standard features you get as you go up in trim level. The key features for the base LX sedan and hatchback include 16-inch wheels, cloth seats, a 7-inch color touch screen, push-button start, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, and a multi-angle rearview camera. On the next level up, the Sport brings you 18-inch wheels, a three-mode drive system, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Higher trim levels bring more in terms of comfort and technology. The EX and the EX-L have 17-inch wheels, a one-touch power moonroof, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and 60/40-split fold-down rear seatback, with the hatchback also offering leather-trimmed seats. The Touring and the Sport Touring get you 18-inch wheels, a premium 12-speaker sound system, and wireless phone charging.
2022 Honda Civic Exterior and Interior
The exterior measurements of the 2022 Honda Civic are consistent across trim levels within body types, but there's a minor size difference between the sedan and the hatchback. The Civic sedan is 184 inches long, 70.9 inches wide, and 55.7 inches tall. In contrast, the hatchback sacrifices some length, measuring 179 inches long, though the other dimensions are identical to the sedan.
In the interior, the sedan and the hatchback provide an equal amount of driver and passenger space. Across all trim levels, you get 39.3 inches of front headroom, 42.3 inches of front legroom, 57 inches of front shoulder room, and 54.3 inches of front hip room. In the rear, the measurements are 37.1, 37.4, 56, and 48.9 inches, respectively. There is some discrepancy in passenger volume between trim levels. For both the sedan and the hatchback LX and Sport trims, passenger volume totals 99 cubic feet. For the EX, EX-L, Touring, and Sport Touring, it has 96.6 cubic feet.
The sedan and the hatchback models significantly diverge when it comes to cargo space, though. The LX, Sport, and EX sedan offer 14.8 cubic feet in the trunk, which is reduced to 14.4 cubic feet for the Touring trim. In contrast, the hatchbacks get you 24.5 cubic feet at all trim levels with the rear seat up. With the seat folded down, the space expands even more.
2022 Honda Civic Performance
The LX and the Sport trims for both the sedan and the hatchback come standard with an in-line four-cylinder engine capable of generating 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. The EX, EX-L, Touring, and Sport Touring see an upgrade with a turbocharged engine that can produce 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque.Â
In almost all cases, the engine pairs with a continuously variable transmission, with the Sport and Touring sedans featuring paddle shifters. The hatchback versions of the Sport and the Sport Touring have the option of a six-speed manual transmission. Should you opt instead for the continuously variable transmission for these trims, you also get dual-mode paddle shifters.
